British pianist Amiri Harewood is rapidly establishing himself as a distinctive voice among a new generation of classical artists. A Grand Prize winner of the 2024 Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) and Concert Artists Guild International Auditions, he was subsequently named a Classic FM Rising Star for 2025.

Amiri has appeared at leading venues across the UK and Europe, including Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Nottingham Royal Concert Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam and Konzerthaus Berlin. His international festival appearances include the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Kissingen KlavierOlymp, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, Rheingau Musik Festival and the Mozart Music Festival in Forlì, alongside performances at the Conservatorio in Venice.

His concerto debut at the Royal Festival Hall with Chineke! Orchestra, performing Grieg’s Piano Concerto, attracted widespread critical acclaim. Geoff Brown in The Times hailed a “Royal Festival Hall debut of considerable panache”, while Richard Fairman in The Financial Times praised the “confidence and a touch of grandiloquence” he brought to Grieg.

The 2025/26 season marked a significant expansion of Amiri’s international career, with debuts at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Konzerthaus Berlin, a return to Wigmore Hall, and his first North American tour, with performances across the United States including Chicago and New York. Future North American engagements include his debut at Bourgie Hall, Montreal.

In June 2026, Amiri joined the Sphinx Virtuosi for the ensemble’s inaugural UK tour, performing in Oxford, at Wigmore Hall and at the Aldeburgh Festival, alongside musicians including Elena Urioste, Nathan Amaral, Sterling Elliott and Celia Hatton. Highlights of the 2026/27 season include a return to the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, an appearance at Heidelberger Frühling International Music Festival, and recitals throughout the UK.

Amiri’s musical interests extend from the core classical and Romantic repertoire to music of the 20th and 21st centuries, reflected in programmes bringing together composers including Bach, Rachmaninoff and Granados with voices such as George Walker, Thomas Adès and Joshua Uzoigwe.

He is also a member of the Aera Ensemble, winners of First Prize at the Royal Over-Seas League Mixed Ensemble Competition and a Gold Medal with Honourable Mention at the 10th Manhattan International Music Competition.

A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Amiri studied with Danny Driver. He was selected to participate in the 2025 Lieven Piano Festival, where he worked in masterclasses with Arie Vardi, Andreas Staier and Eldar Nebolsin.

Alongside his performing career, Amiri is committed to music education and widening access to classical music. He has undertaken youth outreach work with Music Masters and was selected as one of the first Tabor Piano Ambassadors of the Leeds International Piano Competition, representing the Royal College of Music and helping to inspire the next generation of young musicians.
